A veneer is a thin moulding, custom-made from porcelain, which is bonded to the front surface of a tooth. Veneers are a quick and effective solution to stained, chipped, misshapen or crooked teeth. They can also be used to cover gaps in teeth where orthodontic treatment may not be suitable.

Veneers are a cosmetic treatment. They cover only the front surface of the tooth and will mimic the size, shape and colour of your teeth, creating a very natural look. A precise shade of porcelain can be chosen to give the right colour to improve a single discoloured tooth or to lighten your front teeth.

Benefits of veneers:

  • Veneers can help to mask intrinsic staining
  • Veneers will whiten teeth permanently – and you can help to choose the perfect shade!
  • Veneers will close small gaps
  • Veneers can ‘repair’ chipped teeth
  • This minimally invasive approach can help to retain tooth structure
  • Veneers can create the illusion of straighter teeth where teeth were previously crooked or ‘wonky’
  • We will color match your veneers to blend in perfectly with your natural teeth
  • We can create a whole new smile in as little as 2 weeks
  • You can even see the final result before we prepare your teeth

Porcelain veneers are the quick-fix route to a perfect Hollywood smile! Disguising all manner of dental imperfections, your mouth is given the equivalent of a face lift.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are porcelain veneers?

Dental Veneers are thin shells of porcelain which are bonded to the front surface of your teeth. Veneers are ideal for teeth that are severely discoloured, chipped or misshapen and give a perfect natural looking smile.

We only use the highest standard of materials (Lava, Empress, E-Max, Da Vinci, Lumineers and Procera Veneers) which make these veneers appear completely natural

When would I need porcelain veneers?

Porcelain veneers are ideal if you have:

  • Gaps in between your teeth
  • Chipped or broken teeth
  • Crooked or uneven teeth
  • Discoloured teeth
  • Short or worn teeth
  • Protruding or “goofy” teeth
  • Twisted or rotated teeth

What is the procedure?

Porcelain veneer treatments are tailored to your exact requirements. We will ensure we understand your desires and expectations and work out a treatment plan with you.

At the first appointment, we take an impression or mould of your teeth in order to create a dental diagnostic wax-up model. We use this model to show you what your teeth and smile are going to look like before starting any dental work.

At your next appointment, we are ready to start work. We will minimally prepare your teeth to the ideal shape in preparation for your veneers. An impression or mould is taken of your prepared teeth. You will wear hand crafted temporary veneers, whilst your permanent veneers are being made.

We send your moulds together with the shade of your teeth to our highly skilled laboratory technician for your veneers to be made. Veneers are available in a wide choice of colours from Hollywood white to more natural tooth colours. The choice is yours.

You can “trial” your new smile and experience how your new teeth will look and feel. We can make any adjustments to your final veneers at this stage.

In the second appointment, we gently remove the temporary veneers. Your beautifully made porcelain veneers are bonded with special dental cement. We check the fit and how you bite to ensure a perfect fit.

What are the benefits of treatment?

The cosmetic benefits of porcelain veneers are numerous, making it one of the most popular options for people looking for a natural looking smile.

  • Porcelain veneers are used to correct problems with crooked or gappy teeth, avoiding the need for lengthy treatment with braces
  • Cracked or broken teeth can be strengthened with a veneer
  • Porcelain veneers create a brighter, whiter smile

How will I feel after treatment?

You may be aware of your new veneers for the first few days. This is completely normal and you will get used to them after a few days.

Your porcelain veneer makeover will look completely natural and blend in well with your natural teeth.

How long will my porcelain veneers last?

On average your veneers will last 10 to 15 years or more. However, it does depend on you and how well you look after your veneers, your other teeth and gums. Regular dental check ups and visits with our hygienist will help.

How much will my porcelain veneers cost?

We understand that price is an important consideration. Like any dental treatment, the cost of your porcelain veneers is dependant on the number of teeth that need treatment, the complexity of your treatment, the quality of the materials used, the skill of the dental technician and the artistic ability of your cosmetic dentist.

When you come to see us for your first consultation, we will determine the most appropriate treatment for you and provide you with a treatment plan and cost.
